    Neat video, Marion! I just serviced the 68rfe that's in my 2012 with 36,000 miles for the first time. The fluid looked like-new, but my concern was if the spin-on filter was properly torqued from factory. There have been cases of under torques where the filter loosens up and also cases of over torques where the plastic filter coupler breaks. Also, with recommended service intervals I tend to cut them in half for the very first service of each fluid given the presence of "break-in" materials from manufacturing. The actual servicing went OK. Breaking the seal between the factory pan and case was a bit messy and worrisome. I refused to insert any sort of a wedge between the pan and the cast-aluminum case, so I hit the sides of the pan with a rubber mallet. Everything was nice and tight inside the transmission with very little material on the magnet and no signs of pressure-related damages/warps. I swapped both filters out with MOPAR filters. The sump filter has a metal seal ring that could be a challenge getting in. I found it easiest to place this seal in while the spin-on filter is off. I also installed XDP's filter clamp (using better hardware than what they supplied), a metal coupler for the spin-on filter, and a mag-hytec pan that uses a Duraprene fiber gasket and has a drain plug. Filling up the ATF+4 to the proper level can also be tricky. It provided me a good refresh lesson of temperatures/fluid expansion.

    Must be the heat, I live in Northern Illinois and have never gotten less than 7 years out of an automotive battery. And my Kubota tractor's battery lasted 9 years. I use battery tenders on most of my batteries though....especially in the winter.

    Scam. Just like electric cars with $12k batteries, charged with diesel, coal, or nuclear power, made from lithium stripped mined from the earth & bought from China installed in a vehicle mostly made of crude oil parts. While other industrialized countries don't play this stupid game and continue to pollute the air to no end. Like we're gonna save the earth because we breath air that's just reserved for the U.S. and the atmosphere is not shared all around the world. The rich get richer selling this ridiculous green new deal snake oil crap. So stupid. Who with a brain really believes this shit? Thank goodness I'm old.

    I have 2018 3500 w/68RFE had first fluid and filter change at 15k and at that time installed ATS bypass block. Had changed again at 34k and now just changed at 63.3k and tech at trans shop said its was the cleanest pan and magnet he had seen on 68RFE and fluid looked great, but I had it changed anyway I pull a 6k lb boat sometimes and a 20 ft HD equipt trailer. Smooth as a babies butt. Also just changed my brakes for 1st time at 63.5k and those I did my self as pads only the rotors were spotless was floored at Mopar parts with front pads 278.00 and same for rears so I was speaking to service tech in Rest Room he said its a rip off at dealer and 99% time they make you replace rotors also , he said Autozone Duralast Gold pads are as good or better than OEM for about 65.00. Was 100% correct towed boat 200 miles after brake install .. Stops on a dime and gives change. Just a heads up to Ram owners. Great video👍

    GOOD Day Marion Blair, This is Robert Watkins and I told you I was going to get the 67A Emissions Recall done on my 2018 RAM 2500 6.7 turbo diesel 4x4 Tradesman short bed and get back with you on what's changed or no change. It's been three weeks since I've had the 67A recall done and been driving it around my area up to 250 miles and I've read some people noticed more use of DEF Fluid and or more fuel or engine power and here's what I found after 250 miles. There isn't any more use of DEF Fluid, the fuel mileage hasn't change still getting the same 18 to 22 miles per gallon running 60 to 70 MPH and the engine power is also the same. I'm fixing to take the 10,000lb 5th wheel on a 155 mile trip to the beach and I will see what the difference is with the extra weight. Everything is good so far. Have a great day Mr. Blair

    I always believe an automatic transmissions life depends on how the driver treats it. Drive it like a drag race car and the parts will fail like a dragster. My 2016 has 80k on it and the fluid has been changed twice. Once for a recall and once because a cooler hose came loose and pumped alot of it out. Not while driving thankfully.

  • @4wdiesels
    @4wdiesels 3 дні тому

    Change that stuff out Marion! You are really on top of your preventative maintenance. I recall you did a coolant change way prematurely so why not this? I had a valve body recall done around 15k miles so I got fresh fluid with that. I did a Revmax VB and deep pan at 30k so obviously did filters and fresh fluid then. Now I'll do it every 50k because it's easy, satisfying and I do believe it will give my 68 a fighting chance to live!

    FYI: you are chasing your tail. The premium DEF has formaldehyde added in a small percentage to prevent crystallization of the urea. it helps prevent crystals forming in the tank and at the injector spray nozzle.

    Some car washes wouldn’t let my 2500 tradesman go through. The ones that did, I have a little damage done. The first one it hit the back of the bed pretty bad then the entire car wash shut down. The second one, the guys didn’t do any prep work so my mirrors nearly got took off, antenna was bent, custom hood fog lights got slapped off. It’s to the point I just started washing it myself.

    Short answer: Use your common sense. Does it do/enable something the government mandates? (emissions/safety) NO. So why would the manufacturer spend MORE money to build the product (driving up the selling price) if it didn't ENHANCE the product? (reduce noise, improve performance/mileage/reliability)

    Harley OEM VR's are made in Malaysia, so is their security system and the entire fuse box. Don't believe me spend a few hours taking off the parts and read the labels.

  • @greenmarine5

    What people do not know is, CE has an electrical circuit board that properly regulates the Proper DC output to each module this is why you spend the extra hundred for a quality part. The Harley OEM VR puts full DC voltage to every component and is why Stock Harley electrical systems fail so often. This problem that millions of people have says Class action Law suit all over it, but people are loyal to their brand, which is sad when that brand doesn't use bearing grease when they screw you in the ass.
